Creating a festival- Participation is the best part of a festival
The real appeal of Cak Festival is the “joy of creating together” that is common to festivals around the world with long traditions. Visitors can touch and make sounds with rare musical instruments, enjoy the fair, and even jump in on the street performances. Visitors also participate in the festival building to make it more exciting. We are also gathering “Matsuri Nakama” (festival mates) to join and work up a good sweat.

“Jegog,” a traditional Balinese bamboo percussion instrument, is so popular at the festival that there is always a line of people waiting to try it out. Even small children and visitors from overseas can pick up a stick and enjoy playing the fresh sound.
Yamashiro-style street performance
Old-fashioned street performances, such as banana selling arranged in the Yamashiro style will be performed. This has become a specialty that attracts a large number of ardent fans every year. The exquisite banter between the performers and the audience turns the plaza into a whirlpool of laughter.

Festival Mates who carry on the festival
Each year, Cak Festival invites Festival Mates from the general public to join the festival building and take part in all aspects of the festival, from preparation to performance and cleanup, working together with member of Geinoh Yamashirigumi.
All ages and genders are welcome. In accordance with the degree of practicing, a festival mate has the opportunity to join the performances such as Cak (men only), Bulgarian female chorus, and Georgian male chorus. Every year, many people from all over the country come to the festival with the same will in mind. Not only watching, but also creating and performing together is the best way to fully enjoy and embody the festival.
